Here are just a few pictures from our Big Bear Trip last weekend. We started out taking some pictures, but with the conditions deteriorating quickly (!) the picture taking took a back seat to getting out alive!! :) If my brother gets the video he took with his digital camera on the web, I will try and get that up here as well...oh yeah, that Jeep Cherokee that you see hanging off the side of the road is the one that I told you guys about. I winched him back onto the road, he was awfully lucky!!!

BTW, neat pictures. The flash really highlights the size of some of those snowflakes! Wow! Looks like you had a blast up there.

Yeah, that storm was something else...I haven't seen it snow THAT HARD for THAT LONG in a few years, probably since the El Nino year at least...those beers that were chilling out in the snow had to be dug out when we got home that night! :) But the digging was well worth it!! ha,ha

Harry, let's not go overboard!! ha,ha I'll get the hang of it here...

So everyone made it home okay that night?
I know I was pretty damn tired driving back to LA.... Russ how was the drive back to El Cajon?
I didn't envy the drive home you had my friend,

I got home at 0200, it was only 3 hours short of being a 24 trip for us. You were right about the tire size. 33's are not big enough for the deep snow. Even all the gears and lockers don't do any good once your differentials turn into snowplows and your traction goes away. Thank god for the winch. I also developed a bad shake in the shifter about 5 miles from home, thought maybe I had screwed up the tranny with all that shifting. When I checked it the next day my driverside rear wheel only had a couple of lugnuts still holding it on and had chewed up one of the wheel spacers a bit. All in all it was a great time with a few lessons learned. My kids were definitely exhausted by the time we got home though. I am looking forward to a trip down here in the rocks where there is NO snow and I can give that doubler a real test.

Mike, great pictures!! They really show the massive amounts of snow well!! I am working on my brother to make some digital video clips of us trying the hill out of the creek!! That would be cool, hope he can do it...I have a couple of buddies that are interested in going back up in a month or so, so hopefully some of you guys will want to go? There won't be that much snow, hopefully some mud!!

Damn, wish I had been able to go.
How did the IFS pickup do? I'm curious since I own an IFS Blazer.
Looks like lots of fun, but I dunno about the snow.
