Big block dimensions.

Hey guys, could someone with a BBC do me a favor, I need a few measurements.

I need measurements from:

-the rear face of the block to the front of the pulleys (doesn't matter if it's serp. or v-belt).

-outside edge of head to outside edge of head (widest point of the motor not counting the exhaust)

-bottom of sump to the top of air cleaner

I'm trying to see if it's feasible to fit a DT466 or HT570 into a chevy.

Also, what does an all iron big block weigh? A DT466 weighs in at 1400 pounds dry and holds 32 quarts of oil. :doah:
 
Can't help you with the dimensions portion of your request as i just finished taking apart a 454. I can tell you though that a complete BBC weighs in at 685 lbs.
 
Thanks man, think a D60 or 2wd front would handle and extra 800 pounds sitting on it?

Yeah, but it didn't run worth a damn and there was a hole in the gas tank. :p: Did you guys get it rolling after you drove the 1/2 block to the gas station?

Actually, the DT466 idea hit me today. I dunno how the hell I'd put a t-case on one though.

Runs perfectly after the tank was fixed and it had a drink :haha:

Run a divorced case.

6bt is about #1100

It's too cold, actually it's about 20 degrees warmer today but I'm still not going to do it
