Yes, the 366T (tall deck truck engine), 396, 402, 427, 427T (tall deck truck engine), 454, 496, 502, 572 are all Big blocks with the 502 and 572 being an aftermarket performance crate engine.

You forgot the 396 and 496 (8.1 L)

When I say none were "Big Blocks", I meant that throughout their range of displacement there wasn't a smaller cousin like Chevy had. The Pontiac 326 and the Pontiac 455 are externally the same size for example. Olds 350, 400, 455...externally the same. Buick 350, 400 and 455...same.

They are large, not as large as the big block, but larger than the Chevy small block.

There are also some different displacements in small blocks once you start looking at aftermarket blocks. I have a 434 ci small block and you can also build a 454 small block. These aftermarket blocks are a tall deck block but.....

LT.

you forgot the 262 v8. it was put in monzas and I dont think anything else

Also the 402 (396 + .030) was called a 400 for one or two model years, which can mislead one to think it was a small block...

Cadillac had what would be called a small and a big block engine. There's were actually introduced in reverse order being the 472 and 500, then later with the smaller block but same architecture, the 425 and 368. The smaller engines introduced to reach cafe standards and move with the economy the 70's brought with them.

the 368....the infamous 8-6-4 engine with solenoid operated vavles....PAALEASE...

The 368 was available before the 8-6-4 but only for one year.

I wouldn't dream of mentioning the 8-6-4 abortion of an engine management system. Now that you have....:D
