I'm new to big blocks. Could anyone tell me what each of these 3 hose connections are for? Circled in black...

The front centered one off the intake usually goes to the water pump. The one to the side of it is a heater hose connection, and the port on the side of the head is usually where a temp gauge sensor goes.

.....and those valve covers go to me!!!

:wink1:

What mountainexplorer said......

And also what Greg72 said, but to me instead...... :deal:

Awesome...Thanks mountainexplorer...I can check that off the list.
Thanks for the offer on the v-covers guys ;) I'll let you know if I ever get rid of 'em...I'd like to have some like Burt's, but they dont make a 396 decal :(
I just primed the current covers last night.

I don't think they're hard to find. I still think you can get them thru Jegs or Summit. They're just "old school" and they've been around forever. I've seen them in both M/T and Holley castings.

I've had 3 pairs of those M/T's, and one pair of the Holley's. I wasn't sure if they still made the M/T's new... but I've seen my fair share of them used.

Another question...
So if the port (or whatever you call it) on the driver's side head is for a temp sensor, what is the one on the intake next to the thermostat housing? Also, the port on the driver's side head has a fitting for a hose
