Big Block swap ???'s

Re: Big Block swap ???\'s

Klef72K5, I think that the BBCs were only installed by the factory in 2WD trucks. I don't think they installed them in 4WD trucks or Blazers.

WRT ignition, an MSD will only gain you performance if you are experiencing problems delivering spark at the plugs due to a problem in the ignition system, use of very high working compression, use of power adders (turbos, superchargers, nitrous oxide injection), use of VERY high RPM (like, over 8K), and/or use of extremely exotic fuels. Otherwise, an MSD will only give you better tailpipe emissions.

That said, a properly-curved distributor of any type will outperform an MSD when used in conjunction with a distributor that is not properly curved for your engine combination and vehicle. A good, working MSD on a properly-curved distributor is a good thing when used with the right engine combination, however.
