Any one running a big block what kind of radiator shroud are you running? I am overheating in traffic. Thought about a custom 3in from jegs. Tried to trim th one down from the small block would not work. motor sits to far foward

Have you installed a 4 row radiator? As for the shroud, the fan blades should be halfway into the shroud to work properly.

the motor was in the truck when i bought two weeks ago. i belive it came out of the one ton the motor came out off. it is bigger than the radiator in my 77 parts jimmy. i trimmed two inches off the shroud i had and it still went all the way to the alternater

When I had the 454 in my 78 I ran a shroud from a 2 wheel drive big block Suburban. Its a bolt deal.

Four core with correct shroud and a seven blade fan with the H.D. fan clutch and your cooling woes will be just a memory.
We consider this set up a base line "standard cooling package" for BBC's around here. Works with out fail and is all O.E.M. stuff that will not break the bank.

i got a 4 core radiator out of a 78 caddy IIRC. it was like 70 bucks and it works great. my truck never gets more than 180 and i have no fan shroud. maybe i am just lucky!

I run electric fans on any truck we build. Bolt up directly behind radiator. No shroud needed, take up less space, and only run when needed.
