I have read about the Relay project here and there to improve the headlights. This looks like a good upgrade.

However, are there decent LED headlight options out there? What should I be trying to find? I want to keep my amp draw as low as possible.

Is there a plug and play rectangular LED headlight?

Do I read that right? $550 for the set? Ouch!

Seems like a pretty decent product though, just can't justify the cost.

Anyone driven with LED headlights? I know I see them on some vehicles, curious about their performance vs. standards. Obviously built right they should be just as effective if not more than standard headlights, and for that price, I am betting they are. Probably why they mention DOT requirements.

I'd love to do something like this on my new build bud damn! That is pricy.

OK, after speaking with Jessie James, I'm going to go with the Superbright 1157s for the taillights.

I want to replace my dome lights as well. The one over the front seats is cracked, and I have a short there, so it needs to go away as well. The rear one on the A/C works, but is very dim.

So, I could simply get the LED kits from LMC to replace both. I'm interested to know if anyone here has done that, other than the clear lens replacement that I saw in a post.

The alternative is to add to my Superbright order and get a puck done light that would likely be much brighter. I have this one in mind due to the 3 position switch, much like what my minivans have stock:

Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone seen a dome light with a choice of a red, too?

For the benefit, I think the LED's in dome light positions aren't of much benefit.

The clear housings offered will certainly help, but LED's just don't seem to offer much over stock bulbs, other than for headlights.

Of course, I've also forgotten the LED dome lights on over night multiple times, and it didn't affect the battery at all.

As far as the dome lights, get the clear lenses if you keep the stock housings, get the let's from super bright or ebay or deal extreme. (Dealextreme.com is VERY SLOW to get stuff from, but I have had good results) I think the LMC led's are overpriced. I have installed some with a friend.
Or change to some lights in the color that you want.

Either way don't be too leery of going to led. You won't have heat issues if you leave them on for any amount of time and awesome light! And yes, no where near the power draw.

If these come through, here is a picture of my '90 K5 with 4 led replacement bullbs, and my '70 with 12 led replacement in the stock housing, plus extra smaller ones in the rear view mirror and the under dash lights.

What dash is that? DIY4x? It looks good!

6872xtc, are those just LEDs in the stock housing? That's exactly what I want it to look like. I need to know exactly what you did, because that's what I want. Like...perfectly.

The dash in my '70 is oak that I made myself. Thanks for the compliment.

Both trucks have the stock housings with clear lenses. I just got the 12 led bulbs. I really liked the 4 led bulbs, but when I needed more bulbs, I couldn't resist going bigger! Both of these came from dealextreme.com .
