Hey All,

I have a thread on here about what im thinking about doing for my motor and trans once tax returns hit, long story short aiming for 400hp 350tq ish, not fully decided on some parts yet, but thats for the other thread. This thread is all about what other things should you do when you go big power.
I have noticed some axle wrap every once in a while with the stock motor, so maybe Traction bar, but how much will that truly affect the flexing of the axle when offroading? I see ORD sells a upgraded engine crossmember, at what point should someone look into that?

What other changes/mods/upgrades should one make to support the beefed up motor and trans??

Good motor and trans mounts are critical. Maybe weld the crossmember to the frame or a nice crossmember if it needs to come out. My traction bar is critical. Never knew I needed it until I had it. Fuel delivery to the motor needs to be enough.
 
I'm roughly 400hp/390tq. Im on ORD motor mounts, engine cross member and energy poly trans mount. Everything else is stock and perfecty fine
 
So I have added the ORD mounts and cross-member to my purchase list, as well as the ORD traction bar. That transmission mount is cheap enough that i will definitely do it!

I am going to do the whole front end steering setup while I am tearing the truck apart, i have the weld in frame repair kit, drop pitman arm, and a brand new steering box. Going to do the drag link and the tie rod ends, maybe ball joints preventatively. I am doing everything I can to make this a reliable daily driver as well as a kickass off road rig, I do volunteer with my local Search and Rescue team, so I definitely depend on this truck a lot, im trying to take care of it while i can :)
