what is the combination of parts people are using to build a small block with 427 cubic inches? i think i want to build me a mild version of this engine. as in compression to run pump fuel and cam that has fair/slightly rough idle.

Well, to start off with, you need to get the block to swallow a 4.00-inch stroke crank (not sure who makes small-block cranks this big) and that means grinding the bottom of the cylinders, the sides of the pan rails, and probably a few other places for connecting rod clearance, and then the cylinders have to be bored out to 4.125-inches. That's all I can say for the moment, as I have not read that much about building small-blocks this big.

To make a small block that big you are probley going to have to use a after market block. The after market blocks allow for a much larger pistion and crank then a stock block. The largest i have heard of for a small block is 472 Cubic inches :eek1:
