Just got a '96 4 door tahoe. Needs new shoes. Been a while since ive messed with anything with ABS. How much larger than the stockers can you go without setting off any bells or whistles? Stockers are 235/75/15 or about a 29. Wanted to just go with a 30/9.50 or a 31/10.50.

Thanks

Is your Tahoe a 4wd? IIRC, 245/75R16's were standard and 265/75R16's were an option on Z71 pickups and Tahoes (4 door Z71 package had 265/75R16 (1999 only IIRC)) so, I don't see how they'd be a problem. They are just over 31". On my 07 2500HD, I put 265's in place of 245's and have had no troubles in 84,000 miles. There'll be some error on your speedo but, as long as all your tires are the same size, the brakes ought to be fine, I would imagine. Your truck would always "think" it's going a bit slower than it really is but, there won't a difference in speed between wheels to be picked up, since all the new tires will be the same size (IIRC, the ABS goes off difference in wheel speed). Now, I think it might get screwy with considerably larger tires since the truck would think it is going much slower than it really is but, a little upgrade in tire size oughta be okay, I'd imagine.

Why not just swing by like the dealer and get it reprogrammed for the larger tires?

Its a 2wd. Just the new DD to keep the miles down on the dually. Just looking to get a good set of highway treads and wanted to go up a size to fill the wheel wells. Stock 2wd wheels still on it and they are 15's. Looking to go to a 265/75/15.

Now that i think about it, i believe it has to be around a 10% difference. Guess ill find out tomorrow.
