I feel really dumb for asking this, but hey i'm new to this whole thing.

I'm looking to findout how to determine what gearing I have. IE: people talk about needing 4+ for big tires, i just want to know what i have.

thanks

The best way is to remove you differential cover and look at the numbers on the ring gear and do the math. Check your numbers and post them and someone will tell you what you have.

There is a way to check it by jacking up one side and counting the tire revs and driveshaft revs, but I've never tried it.

jack up your truck so the back tire is off the ground. just one tire off the ground, not two. spin the tire 2 revolutions. count how many times the driveshaft turns. tell us. if it turna about 3 1/2 times, you have 3.42s. if 3 3/4 times, you have 3.73s, if 4 and a bit, you have 4.10s.

pull the covers and look best mothed. and it is time for oil change also. last one was done when????? kill to birds with one stone as thay say.:wink1:
