Has anyone figured out a way to put a soft top (bikini top) on a Blazer without drilling holes in the windshield frame, instead utilizing the existing holes for the hard top? I am really hesitant to drill holes in my 1974 Blazer, but I need to figure out a solution. Used to own a CJ7 years ago, it was very easy to do, but the Blazer is a much different story.

Any good ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I would take it to a boat upholstery shop and see what they can do. Boats can have bikini tops and covers etc. thats where I would go. It probably wont be cheap, but I’m sure you can get them to make something exactly the way you want it

If you have a roll cage then attach it to that, but I doubt you do. Otherwise, you could try using the three existing brackets that hold the hard top on. Attach a piece of angle iron or maybe even a flat bar to them (may need to put a slight bend in it) and attach the bikini top to that. And as said, have the fabric made up at a boat shop. Do you have a roll bar behind the front seats?

Yeah, I am thinking basically the same thing. I was just hoping someone made a product for this, but it sounds like a custom job is needed. I do have a roll bar, so it will work well once I figure out how to attach it up front. Thanks.

Nobody makes a bikini top for first gen k5's or second gen full convertible k5's. Looked all over when I had my 75.

This is a diy project with help from a boat upholstery shop like the others have said.

I put a four door jk bikini top on my truggy. Fit amazingly well.

There is (or was) a place that made those tops for first gens, as I bought one. It uses the STC style windshield header bracket that doesn’t need holes drilled. Still have it and use it. I cut out a piece of aluminum sheet so it would attached to the hardtop mounting points and then added a couple snaps on each side for extra protection. It’s nothing fancy, just a piece of sunbrella fabric with some straps. You need a roll bar or a cage at least to hold it up over your head.

To clarify, I made the bracket myself. It was patterned after the bracket used on the soft tops. I think softopper May offer something similar.

I had a 73 and we had a bikini top made for it, we did drill but we put 5 steel straps riveted to the top of the windshield frame and the bikini top had five matching tabs pointed backward and hooked under the straps.
They were forward of the top so putting the hardtop on wasn't affected. And the straps were the same body color so you barely noticed them.

Old school CJ5 Bestop traditional Bikini around 1975 is wide enough for the Blazer along with their header channels can be adapted to work. Mounting brackets are up to you.

They also used to make one for the older Scout. Don’t know if it could be adapted to work or if either are aavailable any longer.

I had a friend measure his bikini / mesh top thing for his JKU and it was 10” narrower than my Diy4x cage.
