just thinking the other day about these bio fuels to reduce emissons(wife is out for a few weeks). would running bio motor oil in the engine reduce hydrocarbons or other emissions? something to try out during emissions test for those old worn engines...

any thoughts

A bio - based engine oil would fare even worse than mineral oil, when it comes to absorbing heat and dealing with combustion temps.. heck, even synthetics are only marginally better at absorbing heat than mineral oil is..

There are industrial applications for bio based lubes, mainly in food manufacturing..remember though that they're chosen for biodegradeability, and reduced toxicity ( in case of contamination), or a desire to "be green"..they're not chosen because they're a superior lubricant.
