So let's talk about wonderful beasts and crappy mechanics.....it all started 4 years ago, I traded a harley I got for 4k for black Betty, drove her from Georgia to Alabama, and the fun began. Headlights were on a toggle switch (redflag) wiring was hideous but well get to that, on the drive home I noticed a shimmy figured I'd give her a better look over in the daylight and what do I find........ loose ubolt on the rear axle, f*** me. I tighten those puppies up he tried to kill me....anyways everything seems to be ok for now. I take a job in okc hook up the trailer with a little redneck engineering so I have trailer lights. Drive to okc, im on i40 and start hearing this God awful rattling noise but I make it. Look her over again, torque converter bolts are all gone but 1. Bell housing cracked etc. So first mod, swap out the th350 and np205 for a 700r4 and np241. Done in 2 days yay. I'm good right...... no battery dies, go get a new with warranty and lifetime warranty alternator. Problems fixed right, nope battery keeps dying and alternator keeps frying. (Warranties am I right?) Finally we get into it remember the headlight issue, yeah turns out he did an engine swap to a 94 model 350 and carberated it....... so we start trying to chase and it's problem after problem get on the net and ordered a whole new harness for 27 circuits for a hot rod. Rewired and found original issue was corroded license plate light. So thats fixed. A few months later engine starts knocking... nbd ..... tore the oil pan off for the first time I was afraid to do it sooner. Well the engine was shot, got on good ole craigslist and found a 96 vortec. Sweet, order an intake strip all the crap off of it and install all my stuff bam engine done. Now suspension is failing luckily I have 3/4 ton axles waiting to get ripped apart and installed so that will complete all the mechanical crap the idiot did. Did I mention he welded an engine mount on, lost a body mount and just ratchet straped it to the frame, oh and what failed recently on the suspension was passenger side front axle rear leaf spring bolt, which was a completely threaded grade 5 bolt. Best guess the lost hardware when installing. Moral of the story, if a deal seems to good it is. Also if you don't know what you're doing stop STOP, ONE MORE TIME STOP. Seriously you can get yourself or someone else killed. Only a few bolts hold axles on a truck and when ots on 35s it has a long way to the ground. Anyways I've got lots of stuff I've done and continue to build with lots of goals for my frankenblazer ill do another feed later on more specifics on my mods I'm sure everyone here has been and done it but hey it's all an adventure till we die.
