Black beauty

My camping, family trip truck
So I just took it on it's maiden voyage this weekend.
I was freaking out about the 4wd not disengaging but I figured it would be the tcase that will get messed up or the front differential.
I have a nice 241 to go in it's place, I much prefer the manual shift, and I have a full front independant front system if anything breaks.
Also half my drive was off road on old unmaintained County roads, so I went with it.

It did pretty good, I tried not to make sharp turns and I kept a light right foot on pavement.
It did great up the hill loaded to the gills, never downshifting from OD except when someone jumped in front of me and slowed me down below 60mph.
I did have a thump that happened on acceleration and I have a feeling it might be transmission, feels like a missing tooth in a rear end but only under load.
It's a little stiffer than my 1500 on the rough rocky roads but still livable once I dropped the tire pressure to 25psi.
I think I need new shocks and I am leaning towards bilstein.

Is there anything in the 4l80E that could act like this?
Forward clutch?

I will be keeping it simple mostly improving with stock options and concentrating on my other suburban build, the white Phoenix
