Black Betty, Rock Crawlin Trail Truck Build !!!FOR SALE!!

Maybe I missed something but are you running 4.56's and no doubler?

Do you feel like you need more gear?

Awsome build thread and awsome truck!

Quick question, Did you use regular spray paint rustoleum or did you shoot it with a gun and compresser? What about the high build primer?

Thanks
also awaiting response. I want to paint my tow rig the same color as your truck :D

I used Magnet Paint's Chassis saver, then PPG's Shopline jp285 2k urethane surfacer (high build primer), then sprayed rustoluem thinned with acetone out of my craftsmen HVLP spray gun. If I did it again I'd have bought some of Magnet Paints single stage 9000 series paint thats a acrylic enamel. I couldn't get the rusteum to lay very flat (major orange peel). MP's 9000 series is only like $60 a gallon and would be 1000x's better than rustoleum. I thought rusteum would be easier to touch up and it is. But thats not worth is seeing how I smashed the whole driver fender in 2nd time out and dont wanna fix it cause it looks cool. The high build primer was a was only "needed" because I made a mess of the body sanding and grinding on it. For wheeling that was also a waste of money but a good experience in using it. (its amazing what some decent primer can hide).

As for the 4.56's and 1.96:1..... I make up for it in horsepower (not). Low max 205 will be in the future but maybe rockwells will come first.

I never take the truck out of low range. All high range does is make the death wobble of unbalanced USA 6x6 beadlocks and 42's that much more evident.

Thanks for the very informative response. I was about to use the rustoluem product but now I will find a cheaper alternative.

Sorry for the hijack

I got my calanders today.

Heres the wiring I finished up for the WINDSTAR FANS.

Finished wiring in the fans this weekend. Custom wiring harnesses the RIGHT way takes a lot of time... I've got it so there are two on/off/on rocker switches; one for each fan. In one position they are constant on (when ignition is on) and in the other position they run off the thermal switch. And Off is obviously off. The coolest part is when they are on the thermal switch, the little light lights up when the thermal switch comes "on" and they go out when the thrermal switch is "off"..

where did you get that temp switch and what does the stock one do just tell the temp on the guage? and if that is the case how do you know what temp youre running?

that switch is from Summit or jegs and is grounds out around 185 or 190 or something ("signal" to relay to kick fans on). I have another temp switch in the block for the the guage

where on the block did you put it because on the driver side of my block there is that temp switch in the frontal part of the engine and there is one more on the rear. is that the one you used?
