black clip on disc brakes

i have no idea how it attaches to the break setup. im sure it has to do with h9olding the other pad in place, so is it needed?

if it's the one i'm thinking of, it holds the inner pad to the caliper piston. it clips on the back side of the pad, and then you push it into the caliper. hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
