Haha, thats funny. I've been using it quite a bit lately too. Been a long time but it still works flawlessly. I typed in Grit blast cabinets and then immages and all kinds of cool blast cabinets pop up. Great cabinet builds out there. How think of Plywood you plan on using? I'm thinking 3/4 sanded quality.

yeah, definitely 3/4"....

ryoken passed on the blast cabinet that i had laying around. If anyone in the NYC / Long Island area could use it, they can come by and take it away. Send me a PM and i will give you the info.

This is what I have. It's good for the money, but could use some improvements. First, I'm 6'2" and I have to bend over just enough that it hurts my back if I'm blasting for a long time. I've taken some scrap metal and built a stand with castors on it so I can move it around the shop, and it is raised about 10 inches. I also ended up buying a dust collection system for it on evilbay. I couldn't stand it being so dusty. You couldn't see after blasting for a minute or so. The gun clogs up fairly easily, but I've seen fixes on the internet for it that I'll eventually try. Anyway, you get what you pay for.

For a little over $200 bucks it's really not too bad. Like you said it does need some improovement, which SHOULD be expected with this, and any unit like it from any company. But considering a "good" grit blast cabinet is thousands of dollars, it's well worth the money for the home hobbiest. A dust collection system is a MUST. I've used the shop vac setup and it works....ok at best IMHO. If I were to buy this unit I would get a good dust system for it too. I would also probably look into converting it to a pressure pot style setup.

With yours raised up on the stand you built you could probably get a pressure pot mounted underneath with some bracketry. Run the pressure pot line into your cabinet through some grommets so seal and your good to go. Once the pot runs out of grit, this unit has a bottom dump gate, so you would kill the pressure to the pot so it drops the ball sealing it closed, dump the grit by open the gate and the grit would dump right into the top of the pressure pot. Close it up, re-pressure the pot and your good to go. I would use a 1/4 turn ball valve to cut off the air to the pot to make it simple to deal with.

My old one posted earlier is still available free to anyone in the Long Island/NYC area for anyone who wants to come by and get it.
