I'm putting a Fisher 7.5' Plow on my '84 FS Blazer 6.2 diesel 4x4, and the local spring retailer wants $800 for the 4 leaf extra HD front springs I bought from him 6 years ago for $300. He's fully stocked, but his prices are NUTZ!

So I looked online, and of all crazee places, JC Whitney has a 5 leaf pack for $220, inc free shipping. Seems like a deal to me! The 4 leafs I put on my Short 1/2 ton really carried the plow nicely.

I wasted 2 hours stripping a rusty 3/4 ton front axle for the lower leafs to upgrade the 2 now on my Blazer, but for $220, I'd be better off with the new ones. The Blazer is from Oregon and is NOT rusty at all.

As an aside, how could the 305 short Pick Up and the Diesel Blazer both have what looks like the same springs up front? Ar the Diesel ones arched differently? My other 6.2 Suburbans also have 2 leafs up front.

Thoughts?

all stocks are the same just more leafs. i would just add some extra stocks and see what ya get for a cheep quick fix. then if you need more go with some hd springs.

thats a generic pic . those look like trailer axle springs in that pic.

and what size fisher you going to run?

i have a 8ft and 9ft blade for my truck. the 8ft blade is about 825 lbs. :eek1:

my truck has 4" hd springs up front. dont squat much at all when blade is up.

and make some cash and get some good springs and also next summer cut the blade skin off and sand blast the blade and have a local steel shop rool you a new skin from 11ga steel. weld it on and rustolum sunburst yellow all of it and you will have a nice new lookin blade.

thats what i need to do to my 9ft blade is a new skin.

my 8ft all painted up for less than 20 bucks. 1 qrt of paint like listed above and cheep 2-3" wide roller with 2 coats. and a old convayor belt for the rubber flap and man does it work good.

I have a decent pressure sanblaster, but my hood is worn out junk... A machine shop around the corner lets me use his tumbler/blaster for small $$$. I also have a blast cabinet, but after 20 years, it's still sitting in the corner in pieces, but my small business runs very well... You wouldn't believe how many Plows I have... Lol... Bought the current one on Ebay for under $100... Just needs a pump bracket for the 6.2, which I have on a parts TEERUK! Just the TIME>>>
