Since we had a little extra funds left over last year, BB2019 is sponsoring itself for the kids.
Even though I don't like them, I bought some raffle prizes just for them. All off road related except for the girlie one. But it has a car.
And here we thought you were a sweet fluffy grandpa that loved kids.
The running joke was to have me work in the nursery on Sunday mornings. When I showed up with a couple of rolls of rusty bailing wire and Duct tape, they asked me not to come back.
Totally awesome to see all the cool stuff coming for the raffle. Great work guys!
One question. Is Stephen Watson going to make it? Looks like he's having fun in Alaska on ultimate adventure.
We believe so. If not, at least he’s having fun
So Stephen will in fact be back for BB, James and Denise however will be piloting the UA truck back from Alaska and will miss it. I wish James could push through and end his epic UA journey at BB but it's just not practical.
James left ORD Sunday night August 18th to pick Stephen up at the Spokane airport on that Monday night, then they crossed into Canukistan Tuesday late day and drove the Al Can highway to the UA starting point. Stephen flies back to CO on Sunday while Denise flies up to meet James and drive back to CO with him. Pops is 68 yrs old, doing a 7,000+ mile road trip and wheeling UA in a truck with 40" tires.
thats a bummer...I was looking forward to seeing him
WOW. From what I've seen of the pics on UA this year it looks over the top with everything. So cool Stephen and James do that every year. Sounds like James is the Ironman logging all the miles.
Being my first BB I'm so impressed the level of support ORD and the whole family puts into it. I'll say it again in person, thanks to the ORD/crew/family for all they put into the event. Same goes for Wade, Mark and all the trail bosses/tailgunners too. Without all you folks there is no BB. Much appreciated. See you all there!
Hopefully you feel the same way after!
I was thinking, "do not raise the expectation bar too high".
More reason why pops is a badass, truly enjoy the talking with him.
Kinda falls under the old saying, a bad day wheeling is better than a good day at work. I'm certain I'll feel the same way after. I've dove through countless threads of past events, watched videos on youtube and know it's the real deal.
Too late. I've already done it. That being said I'm realistic enough that I know stuff can and will go wrong. I'm pretty sure the group I'll be part of will adapt and overcome any challenge and still make it fun to be along with. Honestly, it's the wheeling with like-minded folks that has me most excited to come along. Stories from past events are great and just want to be a part of it.
We have some other kiddo stuff il get pics. Also sounds like I will have some goodies from voodoo ropes waiting on me in moab for the raffle.
They are a sponsor of the ultimate adventure as well.
Not sure what just yet.
But it's green?
I've concluded watching the UA videos that @Stephen didn't want to wash his truck, so they took James's to Alaska
Green high visibility.
The real deal is that in true pops bad ass form, he's already driven the convertible truck from Kentucky to Colorado, he didn't feel the need to also drive it from Colorado to Alaska and back with no heater or windows. Although they thought about it.
The White truck was a creature comfort selection and it's pretty bomber and very simple drivetrain wise. You know manual transmission and all.
