I guess it's time to start this thread already.

Yesterday I cut a sidewall and possibly damaged my steering box (still need to assess that).

Chris S lost a fuel pump from a clogged pre-filter (fuel cell foam that he thought he had gotten cleaned out or possibly a faulty rollover valve, still diagnosing).

Main failure, cracked 241 but that was after finding out the left front spindle nut was backing off and grinding the crap out of the backside of the warn hub. Needless to say the crunchy slurry that used to be wheel bearing grease was not good. I attempted to pull the spindle nuts and the inner wasn’t coming off easy because the spindle threads were gacked. So the group consensus was to tighten the inner back down and go. Though the outer nut wasn’t really keen to thread back onto the spindle, so the 1/2” drive Milwaukee came to play and snugged it up after I was able to get it started by hand. Of course other issues were found like a leaf spring bolt backing out up front, bent tie rod, core support bolts backing out and spitting out a lower bushing.

There was a sacrifice of my tire pressure gauge when the hose between my compressor and tank failed. It might have bounced off of the rocks a couple of times.

But we got it out. Mark, Ron, Steve, Dave, and a handful of others that their names escape me right now kicked ass in getting my son and I back to camp. Much appreciated for sure.

Spal fan burned up, or so we think right now.
After rusty nail, on gold bar rim, heading back.

Blew both 50amp breakers for each fan. I run separate breakers and 75amp relays for each fan.

The hot temp fan breaker didnt feel right and wouldn't reset. So we thought maybe a breaker problem. Bypassed the breaker and she smoked the harness wires right at the fan.

Resistance measuring showed the breakers functioning correctly after it cooled down.

Anyways, wont know until I get it home and tear into the harness and figure out what truly happened. I thought I had a pretty good setup, and realistically did for years, plus the breakers worked correctly.

So after that we still had a few ledges and the sand wash, plus hill road, to get back to the highway. Speed was the name of the game to get airflow, and stopping when the temp go too high. Only stopped 3 times or so.

Had to Bush whack through the town to keep moving. But back safely. Oh well. The truck hasn't let me down and kept me from wheeling in alot of years and I guess it was time.

Bent the front driveshaft dropping off an undercut ledge. Dumbest thing I've done since flopping last year.

Also started having engine cooling problems on Golden Spike that seemed beyond what the outside air temperatures would cause. Figured out my big fan isn't running, only the smaller one works.

It was a sick dive tho

Mine was self inflicted. 205 didn't want to come out of low gear, so I man handled it. Never worked right after that.
Won't go in low all the time, won't stay in 2H

So after not sleeping the whole trip, I opted to punt yesterday and sleep in my own bed last night
Stopped in GJ to put the doors back on, then pulled the front shaft and "shifted" to 4H since the 205 sounds like it destroyed itself inside
Made it home without issues, but definitely need at least a straight shift fork and possibly some gears or a slider on the low side

Flattened the crossmember, stripped the paint off the driveshaft

Oh and I need a new shock & mount. Thanks to @ktmoutfront for hooking me up with a melty box to booger weld it back on

The Crawlabago is home. Left at 7:00am from the campground, pulled in at 4:30 this afternoon. Only stopped for fuel once and food once.

Bill’s little red Power Wagon did the job hauling us home. The major pulls uphill did get down to 25mph due to the 5.7’s massive torque curve. But it never got hot and handled the downhill runs without issue.

The order process will commence.
