Blazer Bash 2024 General discussion thread.

I was going to show up this year. Then Eileen booked our Yellowstone trip for the last week of August. After driving for 5 days, getting back on the 30, then leaving for multiple days of towing, the thrill was gone. Then Eileen was laid off, so all plans have been canceled.

I know, first world problems.
Me personally, I would have still gone to Yellowstone. I already feel like I have missed too many trips for fun. Yes, it would be a challenge to ignore the reality waiting at home, but mental health rejuvenation is necessary.

This is a primary driver for me too. I read an article about what people in their 70s and 80s regret and one of them was not traveling more while their health still allowed it. Even though I'm a few decades away from that age, I still think it's worth keeping in mind.

We keep saying that. But reality hits and my wife is panicked. If the trip was 6 months out from her layoff, we would have went. Yellowstone will be there next year. Or it might blow up and it won't matter anyway.:D

This is why Junior and I did Route 66. We could have just driven his car straight to his place in 2 days. Took 6 because of the long way around.

Are you guys doing shirts this year for registered participants and passengers? We never did get ours last year. Did they ever get printed?

I’ve got a shirt design but due to my situation going bananas at home leading up to this I’ll handle it like I did last year.

How was it handled last year? Like I mentioned, my husband and I both were registered as driver and passenger but never got our 2023 shirts.

I don't think you automatically got a shirt for showing up last year. they had to be ordered, did you order shirts?

Oh, no. That sucks. I never saw that post. I don't get on this site much other than to check what's going on for Blazer Bash. I did watch it for a little while afterward last year because we were told at the bbq that they'd have to send them out after. They've always been included in registration costs and given out at the bbq in years prior, so I guess that's my fault for misunderstanding and assuming they'd be included again.

As the previous organizer, I can tell you that they were always an additional item to order.
Ah, well I guess when the shirt order is available right there with the registration for the event, it must've been easier to remember and get ordered. We must have ordered ours that way in the past. I just know we've always picked them up at the bbq until last year.

what size are you needing? I don't know if any are left over

I had the shirts made after the event. I do have some left over I’ll check sizes when I go home.

Is there a check list of items that we need for our rigs? There was no info about it on the registration page.

Personal preference mostly. Safety gear, fire extinguisher, first aid, recovery gear, etc. water food for lunch snacks. Spare parts, tools, fluids. Maybe spill clean up goods, kitty litter pig blankets.

We have been using uhf radios like Baofeng hand heads. Both Zoo and I will be able to program to freqs we use for the weekend.
None of this a requirement, just nice to have.

Bring plenty of water!

Good recovery points
Air compressor to air back up
Tools
Spare Parts
Strap

The usual stuff you'd bring for any wheelin trip
