This was discussed a couple of different years. Once the Grand County stuff started.

Difficult to get lodging in the area during this time.

The other problem is how spread out it all is. Ridgeway would be a decent center hub, but would be more problematic for lodging.

Black Bear is closed for the season, and Imogene is closed for repairs due to torrential rains. There are many passes in the San Juans to run. West of Montrose, like 5 miles, are several hard core rock crawling trails A couple of the trails are buggy type trails.

Well, everybody, I've got some crappy news to share. I've been trying to get a hold of anybody at Grand County for the final approval of the permit. Multiple calls last week and no return., same for emails. The person normally in charge is out until the 30th of Sept.

I've got no choice but without confirmation, I've got to pull the plug. Which has had me riddled with guilt and stressed me out to my core as I've failed everybody here, myself and my son. I did not want to make that decision. But it's the only way to do so. To everybody involved, I apologize. If you are coming, to Moab, still come.

There is no reason to not come to Moab. There is nothing stopping anybody from coming out to ride on trails on our public lands. Yes, as far as I'm concerned if there is any semblance of an official event without a permit I'm on the hook. So it's yet another reason to pull the plug. I'll be refunding everybody that has paid through the website. @mrk5 and @CK5, I'll need you to shut it down when you can.

Since this is public and could be monitored by the powers that be, I ask that any discussions to orgainize a trail ride with like minded people do so outside of this section of the forum.

Again, I feel like a complete failure so nobody is going to be harder on me about this than me. My apologies to everybody. I'm sorry.

No worries, it happens and was bound to happen eventually. Thanks again for all the hard work you and others have done already!

While I appreciate the idea, I don't feel right holding onto anybody's money. I have been thinking about this since you posted it. If I'm not providing the service, nobody should bare any cost. Right now I'm only into it for the BLM Fee as that's the only permit that I got approved. But since we need both, it's kind of pointless to go have anybody pay for anything we aren't going to use.
Besides that fee was covered with the remaining funds from last year's event. So I'm not out anything. I'll be working on the refunds tonight and tomorrow.
