So this is more for next year. But it is based on this year. What did we do well ? What needs some improvement ?

Have any good ideas ?

Etc.

Radios and communicating what channel to be on needs improvement. I realised after BB that I was operating on wide band FM vs the pre-programmed channels being narrow band FM. So I was only able to communicate with other people I helped manually program radios.

I think we could print out cards for people like me bringing my own radio to manually program or put labels on the pre programmed radios with a list of channels in preferred order and settings needed to program the channel in.

Yep @Babaganoosh
And I put a damn CB radio in my truck BECAUSE of BB, even took shit for not having it the first year, though last time I was out it's like "CB??? Nah no one has CB"...

:doah: :dunno: :haha:
Glad I put the big mirrors on first :flipoff7: you know who you are

I have the chirp file used by Rob to program the radios. I was wrong about the narrow vs wide FM settings being the issue. He has everything programmed under GMRS which is mostly wideband FM. So I'm not completely sure what happened after we set radios the first day. Maybe a larger group of guys picked a different channel.

I wasn't a fan of meeting at the market, at least not for the first day. I feel like we need our own meet up spot away from people just trying to do their shopping.
I like the centralized location of the city market not that I like meeting at the city market I just like that it's there in town you get fuel and you get food and all that while you're there. The thing I do not like about meeting at the old city park is it's really not in the direction of any trails. But I do like that it would just be all of us meeting together to then go on a trail.

The tour bus really enjoyed us.

I don't have a basis from other years but here are my thoughts from our teams first experience.

Really appreciated the welcome atmosphere. Some events can be really "clicky" and I didn't get that impression, so thanks to all.

Meeting at the city market had several benefits. Fuel is there, last minute supply purchases, restroom and ease of finding the location. My $0.02. That said, it was busy trying to leave there.

Quite a few (me too) got lost day 1 which caused some headaches. Town traffic caused "follow the leader" to be problematic. We used ONX but that sent us to the other end of the trail. A better radio connection among the group would be excellent. I know nothing about radios, I can barely press the bottom to talk. For those that aren't aware, there are many cellphone blackout areas.

Trail guidance was good and having a tail gunner is important so I was glad to see that. I know several members spent most of their time helping others more than wheeling so there are lots of thanks due there.

I think Kane Creek may have been better as day 2. Poison Spider may be a better day 1. If those will be run again next year.

Hells was fun as usual. It also does work well being close to town for the BBQ day.
I liked Poison Spider a lot, I would love to do it again next year. Its hard to herd a group of 16 up a trail, splitting the group to keep moving was a good idea. No hard feelings about breakage on poison spider, its all part of 4 wheeling and you never leave someone behind. Maybe start that one at 8 next year to get further or get a couple groups going to do the trifecta.
I was not able to get to Kane Creek (work) but I was a little worried about having a hard trail first day (breakage).
I thought City Market was a good spot. Ice and snacks. The tour bus was funny too.
