Blazer bash in Danger!

Oh great! There goes the neighborhood.... :angry1:

The damn tree hugging dirt worshippers are at it again. Looks like it's time once again to start sending notes to our elected officials.:(

I'm subscribed to this thread, I'll make sure I attend the SLC BLM meeting and let my voice be heard!

These are the exact reason that everyone needs to be involved in some type of motorized use club.

I myself am involved in our local snowmobile club but through that I at least get my finger on the pulse of the motorized use plans etc.

If you don't have time for a meeting donate money to the Red Rock fourwheelers. They are the Moab club and fight these things tooth and nail.

Everyone better be getting involved before there is nothing.

Does that article even mention closure of trails? It sounded to me like they are closing redundant roads and roads that basically have no purpose. There are lots of those in the Moab area.

The last part of Hell's Revenge for example used to have 100's of little paths that left the main roads and then met back up with it later. These are all just paths that someone made by going off the trail. The BLM blocked off almost all of them a couple years ago and that was cool by me. There were no obstacles on anything they closed, it was just dirt road.

Sounds to me like the BLM is just doing a little cleanup.

Of course, as always, if there's anything I can do to keep trails open I'll do it.

Ok for those of you who dont like to read the leagal government mumbo jumbo. This is basicly what it boils down to:http://www.blm.gov/style/medialib/blm/ut/moab_fo/rmp/draft_eis.Par.6759.File.dat/Executive%20Summary.pdf.
You guys really need to read it.
There 4 alternatives A,B,C, &D The actions range from no change from current policies. to complete clouser of vast areas of land to OHVs and other uses.
It is your input that will affect which alternative is chosen.
You can bet the tree huggers are doing their best to see that plan B is put in effect.
Most of us can't make it to those meetings. My hat is off to those of you who do go to them. BUT The rest of us do our part by reading the Summary in my link. Then clicking "Get Involved" and sending the BLM an Email, Or land mail to the adresses in the Get involved link above, as to what option A,C, or D, you perfer. Let Your Voice Be Heard! Before its too late.

My apologys to the mods for bringing a land use thing into the garage but I thought it was an important issue that could affect all of us. i wanted to get the word out to as much of the brotherhood as i could.
The last post in land use forum regarding Moab land use sticky was made in 2003. That was when they were doing the study for these proposals that are now on the table.
PS.. If you live in Cal there is a Post (Has anyone seen this?) in Land Use regarding Holister Hills and other OHV parks that you may be interested in.

Does anyone know offhand what the position of the Blue Ribbon Coalition is on this one? Or the Red Rock Four Wheelers of Moab?

As much as one might want to vote for option A (no change), it might be a wasted vote...

yes our paper had all that to also when and where the meeting will be held here im working on getting a group together to attend its on the 27th of sept at 6 pm at the tow rivers rec center

I am sure the BRC will have a position keeping roads and trails open. Prolly something like the BLMs alternative C or similar compramise.
I don't think they have anything on their site yet because this issue is brand new and they haven't had time to review it and get info up on their site.
Heres the link to Blue Ribbon Moab issues FYI.:http://www.sharetrails.org/public_lands/index.cfm?section=MoabUpdate
I am sure they will have info up soon. Keep checking it
The BRCs home page also has info on other trail/land closings including the large amount of trails the USFS wants to close in rubicon area.
Once again offroading is in the Greene's cross hairs. It is going to take as many people as possible to get involved. Or area after area and road after road will be closed to OHVs. The eco nuts are very organized and have many people in the BLM and USFS totally on their side.
Here in Nevada we just lost a great place called Sand Mountain to have fun in. The treehuggers got it closed to OHVs because they said OHVs were disturbing a Sand Butter Fly.
Because of some stupid bug, one of the best sand dunes in northern Nevads is closed off.

Honestly, you can sputter and argue about it all day, but if it is anything like what the pinko liberal tree huggers did up here with GAMP, their mind is already set, and it is not something that 4wheelers are going to be happy with.

GAMP shut down Alberta's version of Moab know as Waiparous, it used to be a vast expanse of 4x4ing off old forestry roads and such in the foothills of the rockies. There is only like 100 km of truck trail left out of literally thousands of kms. Quadders got off a bit better, but it won't be long till they get the can too.

They also recently shut down another popular 4x4ing site know as Indian Graves, there was no public debate, they just flat out shut it down.

There literally is next to nowhere you can legally wheel your truck anymore. You can do what you want on Northern crown land, which quadders definitely take advantage of, but almost all of it is thickly forested, making it basically impassable for a truck.

I should mention that the SRD of Alberta promised that they would listen to the 4x4 groups, but we all got shafted every single time we tried to talk with them, or were not invited to important meetings on the subject, while the treehuggers were.

Aka, if you wheel Moab, go ASAP, cause you won't be wheeling there for much longer :(

Don't throw in the towel just yet. These things happen all the time. Hunters, offroaders, and anyone else who wants to go into the woods, eat meat, or shoot guns has faced opposition for decades. It's a never ending fight and most people who have normal lives can't keep up with every turn, but that's why if we could spend half the money we spend on satallite tv, booz, or other less important stuff supporting advocates for our viewpoints we might not even need this thread. I hate to sound sappy, but if everyone who uses the trails could spend a little money supporting others to lobby for us, and a little time emailing, writing officials, and maybe a meeting once a year, we wouldn't have to worry about losing our freedoms to ignorant, self-righteous, close minded liberals.
