With how established blazer bash is now, I am wondering why nobody has invited a writer from one of the major magazines to come out and do a article on it. I know the ORD guys are good buds with Peterson's 4-Wheel and Offroad (for Ultimate Adventure) and I know there has to be someone that knows some of the FourWheeler guys.

It just seems like too cool of an event, and been around long enough with enough participation that someone would do a really cool article on it (kinda like the Fullsize Invasion during EJS).

Anyone ever tried to contact the magazines to see if they want to come out? Someone call Fred Williams from Peterson's and tell him to bring is Army Truck he has built and have some fun :D

Actually we have been in a magazine. The 2005 event was but I can't remember the name of it. TDAWG has tried to talk with a couple of people from Petersen's without success. I have also emailed with a contact thru Stephen that is a freelance writer to help him with Moab permitting but he has another big event he's part of that's on the same weekend as Blazer Bash so he can't make it.

For a number of years I had informed Jerrod Jones from Off Road Magazine about the Blazer Bash as well. If I am not mistaken there was some scheduling conflict with another event around the same time.

LT.

Jay Kopycinsky writes for 4wheeler now and before he was with them full time he was a freelance writer just submitting articles to all the magazines and seeing if they would pick them up. He came to my full size only contest in arizona a few years back and took pictures. It ended up being run with a 4 page article in Peterson's. I will try and reach out to him.

The one magazine article we had for the 2005 event was written by an attendee, jms, and Stephen from ORD. I think they had made some sort of arrangements for it beforehand tho.

I heard back from Harry Wagoner. He said maybe, depending on his schedule.

I like the efforts going on here folks :waytogo:. Keep at it. Only 1 article about this 10 years ago is not sufficient in my book...we need more :D

Jay is local to AZ and he's just a freelance photographer for the magazines. Coming to Blazer Bash would mean he'd have to take a vacation to get out there so I would't hold your breath on that one.

Are u sure because he has had a regular article in 4wheeler for about the past 6 months? Before that I only remember seeing him as part of a few articles where he was mostly taking pics.

Unless something changed in the last couple years. I know he's been doing more articles lately, but I'm fairly certain he isn't a full time writer.

He's done article on my old 72 Blazer and another overland run I go on every year with some Nissan guys.

Here's what Jay said:

Thanks much for contacting me. I really doubt that I can make it up to the Blazer Bash though it sounds very cool.
I'd appreciate it if you would let me know of other local AZ events as they are planned. I'd like to shoot some more
full-sizes and always looking for mag quality built rigs for features.

someone talk to Fred and get him to do a Dirt Every Day episode at the Bash...Or the ROadkill guys..they could wheel a monty carlo on Hells Revenge. that would be epic..actually lets make it next year

I've been on all the big dogs of the magazine's every year. Almost all year long. It's just a bad time for them, also since the big internal shake up there are less of them. And they are spred out throughout the country. I'll keep working on them, one day I'll get them.
