what are your thoughts on it?

I'm not much for getting up early (thats why I work 3-11:30) I like going to bed when I'm tired, and getting up when I'm not!

I got off to a late start a few times this year, and really liked not having to feel rushed in the AM.
I also like to kick back in the evening, have dinner, maybe a brew or two, and chill out bsing the evening away.
So just wondered if there was any interest in having a couple trail runs starting about 10am and being done by 6 or so?

I don't think I went on a single run that started before 10am for me this year, LOL!

I'd be fine with it myself -- I would rather get home a bit late and do some night wheeling than be so bloody worn out and tired the whole time from getting up so early

I would be in favor of that, maybe at the meeting place 9:30 or 09:00 at the earliest. The 8 am ones are a little rough and if I happen to be on time which is rare then I get grumpy because the one time I am punctual someone else is late.

You could also run the 2 groups on a popular trail. One at 8 and one at 10.

I like this I am not an early riser. So some of us who don't rise early could do the later in the day trail.

Nice thing about leaving early is your not out in the heat as much. but yeah getting up early on vacation sucks

It dont get so hot Gus, although compared to AK maybe, but even 90 ain't bad in Moab....no humidity to go with the heat...:waytogo:love it!

I'll jump in and second the layed back approach.

Buggy talk, or small groups.

totally disagree with the buggy talk, small groups yes.

I have gone out with large groups later in the day, nope we don't get done early, usually around 7 or 8 or even 9. But I am cool with that, its my vacation and my wifes and getting up at 6 to get the kids ready for an 8 am departure is hard.

Yea, the early starts are a little rough and it sucks when others are not punctual. But....

Beat the heat and thunderstorms,
More time to deal with breaks before dark,
More time to fix stuff back at camp,
More time for a large group and long trails before dark.

Besides, there is plenty of time to sleep around the winter solstice. So I guess I will be in the early group.

Disregard, shouldn't have said anything since I wasn't there and won't be next year.

I guess we can see what the feedback is but I don't have enough trail leaders to run two groups on multiple runs. Sunday I would definitely agree could be later start; I try to choose short runs anyway and there tends to be fewer people. Don't really want start the 'fecta any later tho.

I agree with the fecta being early.

As you know I am not anywhere near a buggy.

Bottom line I will sign up for what trails I want to run and will try and be there at the appropriate time. If something comes up then its up to me to decide whether I try and catch up or run something else.

Sorry to hear you won't make it next year jms, missed you on the trail and off this year at the bash.

Hope things are going as well as they can be across the big water.

Doesn't matter if you will or won't be there next year or the year after or the year after, if you ever plan on making it again I think the feedback from everyone who has been is planning or is going to be there is worth it

I felt bad cause I was late to almost every trail including the 2 I led then trying to get everyone out to the trail I pretty much screwed up and didn't lead Pritchett at all. Broke on the tri pretty early.

I am pretty much a failure as a trail leader but I would volunteer to lead the later afternoon group:D:D

You could start the fecta later, just everyone would need a tent and a sleeping bad :haha::haha:

My plan this year is to post up the trail runs we're going to offer, get trail leader volunteers, and then let the trail leaders choose their start time and meeting place.

I don't like getting started to early myself but one thing I have learned in 10 years of BB.

Everyone is on vacation, Herding cats is easier than getting the groups in the right spot at the right times, everyone wants to hang out and BS all the time, everyone wants to stop and look at the scenery, I could go on and on.

It doesn't matter what time you start the trail runs someone will be late, someone will just have to stop for gas, someone will just need to run the the grocery store real quick, Trucks will break, scenery will be looked at and the trails will go slow.

As you can assume I like to move quick on the trail, so a late start is fine with me but IMO you loose a good part of the reason everyone comes, BS'ing, scenery, and a bit of wheeling in the middle. Late starts make it to where you have to move quick and not waste time cause I also like to eat dinner at someplace other than Dennys at midnight. The brewery at 6:00 is much better

So in short I am in full support of 8:30 meeting times and 9:00 at the latest departures. If you get back into town you can do all the maintenance, fueling etc. in the evening not the next morning.
