Blazer build with pics

back to work

time to begin work on the beast again. working on lining up an engine for it... if anyone in PA has an engine for sale let me know :).

Also im working on building this bumper for the rear. Id love some opinions. I made this model, the holes are for lights and it has 2 shackle mounts.

Wasn't sure you still had the blazer. Last I saw you were messing with a dodge cummins swap. Haven't seen you on in a while. Did you blow the other engine. Saw you down at Nazareth park a couple years ago. Truck looked

Yeah the old 350 was running really poorly. Back when I was putting the truck together I closed off a fuel tank vent. I believe thats why the engine ran so bad. The tank pressurized and blasted fuel into the carb. I did not know at the time so I ran the truck like that for a while and it just got worse and worse. Eventually I pulled the fuel lines and gas was blasting out so I fixed the vent but the engine kept eating fuel pumps and running terrible. I got rid of the old engine a few years ago, Im done with college now so Im hoping to have the old hog running by August!
 
Usually when its nicer out we are there once every 6 weeks or so. I'll keep you posted.
 
About that 454 swap...

Just scored this dually for cheap. Seems to be a good running 454 donor, it has a twin tank and TBI set up. Fuel lines are dry and fuel pumps aren't working in the tanks so I ordered this airtex e8094. Gonna need it for when I swap it into the K5 anyways.

Starting pulling it apart. The 454 seems to run well. The thermostat housing was missing a chunk and it puked coolant all over the place. 11 dollars later I replaced the T stat housing and she runs good. Truck starts runs and drives now for 750$ bucks I couldn't be happier.

The plan is to retain the TBI. I am going to run a compression test on the 454 and see how it looks. The truck has 230000 miles on it. Not sure if its the original engine and trans. I'd prefer to drop the engine right in the k5 as is without getting to involved with it. Gonna get a closer look when its pulled.









This truck is called the "cowboy cattle- lac" pretty hilarious. Check out the fancy interior.
 
That last pic looks like that seat folds into a bed if the front seats move forward enough?

Good find . Hopefully that engine has a lot of life yet.
