Hey folks been away for some time. Diving back into the Blazer reviving. Body was stripped completely and a lot of new metal put back in.
Now I'm getting ready to finish it up but I need rubber seals for the cap. Any ideas what ones I need and where do I get them? I didn't know they had seals on the side rails at all but someone said they do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LMC's catalogs are a pretty easy source to see what kind of seals you'll be looking at/for. I can't really recommend ANY aftermarket seal manufacturer, but at this point GM has stopped supporting us with most parts, so we are mostly at the aftermarkets mercy. It's been theorized that the seals sold now are all being made in the same place anyway, no matter who has their name on the package. Not sure if that's true, but none rival GM quality that I've personally seen yet. If you do happen to see a company selling "OEM" gaskets, rest assured GM is still selling them, just find the GM part number and check a variety of online GM parts retailers, like gmpartsdirect, nalley GMC, etc.

If you look at my signature, you'll see the link to the square body manuals thread on another site. The factory parts manual there is a far better resource than LMC, but it will take a bit more work to determine everything you need. The good part is, you will have the GM part numbers which you can then research for availability. Yes, GM parts are often 2x+ more, and they are worth it if you plan to keep the vehicle. Unfortunately, as I said already most are no longer available. That I can think of, not a single seal that involves the topper is available from GM anymore.

I assume this is for your '78. There are two seals at the roof/topper and one on each bed rail, so a total of 4. There's one more inside the top where the rear glass slides into but doesn't sound like you need that. Several companies have these seals, but as stated quality here matters and you get what you pay for. Some places you can check out are brotherstrucks.com, cheyennepickupparts.com, classicparts.com, and sofseal.com just to name a few. I do believe that sofseal makes their own parts and have the best quality but that comes at a price. If it were me, I'd go with the cab/topper seals from sofseal since those two pieces are the most critical, then get the bedrail seals from someone else. I'd steer clear of LMC weatherstripping since I've heard stories of bad fitment/sealing.

I am replacing all the weatherstripping in mine, so I bought the full kit from 1A Auto. They are a vendor on here and responded to my concerns about poor weatherstripping (are they all the same vendors, etc). So far, I've got half the kit in and everything has fit perfectly.

The seals you're referring to - I did those two weeks ago with no issues. For fit and quality, I recommend them. Here's the kit for just the seals you asked about:

Thxs for shining the light on what and where folks. I'm trying to order off that link but the checkout keeps coming up. I'll give them a shout and do it over the phone I'd say. Thxs again. Next will be what ones I need for the tailgate lol

Awesome, I need all of those seals. Good to hear they are decent quality.

If anything, they're a little robust. I had to bolt the top back on in a criss cross pattern. The new seals made it sit a little high since they haven't been formed yet. Same with the doors. I had to slam them to get them to latch after replacing door seals. They're starting to form and getting easier to close. It's too be expected I guess, and better than the alternative.

I ordered cab/top weatherstripping from 1Aauto for my blazer and I believe they are top quality. Great customer service also. You won't be disappointed. :waytogo:
