I have an 83 blazer with a 350 the other day i was driving it and it started sputtering like it ran out of gas. Got it home had a full tank of gas. drove it friday and it would get to 40 mph and die. took the line off to change the filter and checked the flow from the pump it was good. Got it back together yesterday and drove it down the road and it still does the same thing. Anybody have any suggestions?

Pull the dipstick out, does the oil smell like fuel?

When it dies, is when the motor is loading up? for example, you just hit a hill, or ease in the gas pedal to pass someone?

Was it driving fine from day one? Is there anything you did previous to this happening, or did you buy the 83 this way? Is it hard to start after it warms up? My best guess is the carb dumping fuel, try finding a vacuum leak or rebuild the carb.

Hmm, it could be many things, but it almost sounds like it may not be getting quiet enough fuel. I would check the fuel filter. Simple stuff first.

I had a SBC do similar things, turned out the fuel pump was cracked, and dumped fuel into the crankcase, instead of the carb. Thats why i suggest smelling the oil

it was running fine til last week only thing i have done was put an alt on 2 months
