Here we go. Stock thank from the 77 blazer that donated the frame. My flatbed will end up being ~9" above the top of the frame. With 4" of lift and 42's, it will need to be that high to clear the tires anyway. Tank is in place, but I haven't decided how to secure it down to the rack yet. First idea is simply to run screws through the flange into the 1x1 box steel. Not real sure if the tank would stay sealed. Second is to put a 1" strap above the flange, and screw the outside edge of that to the 1x1 box, thus holding it in. I could also make some kind of strap accross the top to hold it, similar to the OEM straps on the bottom. Any ideas?

Clearance on the bottom of the tank to the drive shaft. The lowest part of the tank is even with the bottom of the body mount cross member ahead of it in the truck. If the cv joint breaks, the shaft can't hit the tank. I'm going to put in a crossmember under the tank, so if the axle joint breaks, the shaft won't hit the tank.

Subscribed... This is a great idea. I'd thought of doing something similar with a Blazer frame and short cab. I've seen one that had a stock bed that had a section removed and welded back together. Looked real sharp.

Sorry I can't contribute, I'm here to learn :-)

I vote for straps across the top a la the factory ones. Screws into the tank just seems ... scary, and when loaded with gas that thing will be HEAVY and will want to come UP and yank those screws out on every bump.
