Ok, I have a 77 K5 Blazer I live in Phoenix and on Thursday night as I was getting off the freeway and applying the brake my blazer jerked hard to the right suddenly for a split second and then it was fine. Now also last night on my way home from a friend's house again I was on the freeway and NOT on the brake I was cruising along and the truck jerked hard to the right again for no reason. Now with all that being said everyone I talk to says it's a brake issue but my truck is also 4wheel drive and not this past week but the week before I discovered that one of the 2 linkages or bars that attatch to the floor shifter was not connected because the cotter pin is gone and up until last weekend my 4wheel drive was engaged with my not knowing it until I tried to fix that linkage not being connected. I was unable to fix it at the time and still have not done so because the bar is a little out of shape. This is my daily driver to and from work and I must say that last night when it jerked I was extremly nervous and a little scared. I explained all this to someone else today that I work with and he told me that it's the right side of my 4 wheel drive engaging due to the bumps in the road and so forth. I just want everyone's advice that may have had this problem or at least has the experience with 4 wheel drive that I don't. Never have had a 4 wheel vehicle before and this is new territory working on it for me. Please help because I'd like to be able to drive it again by monday. THANKS!!!

get it back into 2wd, if their are problems with your shift linkage remove the front driveshaft. if its your first 4wd Im guessing you havent been into the front end, tear it down and check and repack the wheel bearings. you might just have a caliper acting up on you, $17 a piece at autozone, replace both at the same time.

Well, let me state the obvious....

If you think it's related to 4WD, you can simply remove the front driveshaft for a few days and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you can start doing some more detailed troubleshooting of the front-end or xfercase.

Removing the shaft is just about the quickest, and simplest thing you can do to start isolating the problem.
