Newbie here, got a question. My k5 is pulling hard right when I brake, I have replaced the callipers, pads, rubber lines with stainless steed braided ones, hard lines to the prop valve, wheel cylenders and pads, still no luck.

i noticed when I hammer the brakes the pass side will lock up the front wheel but the drivers side wont. I can see the patter in the gravel road I live on. I love this truck to death but its going to kill me. Do these things have an inherant pull when braking???? The only thing left is the proportioning valve and as far as I know it does not meter the front fluid, just the rear.

The truck did have a 4 shock setup on it and now runs just 2, could this cause it to dive and steer too much. Man this is fustrating.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

Thanks, RABBOTT

Shocks wont cause it to dive but under braking, the calipers are normally the culprit. I have installed ****ty calipers before. If it's pullin right, then the left isn't grabbing. I would try bleeding again and see where you're at.

Check the torque on your axle u-bolts. General consensus seems to be around 120 ft lbs. Mine was doing the same thing and the front u-bolts were the culprit.

I will add that to the checklist. I have bled the system beyond all conception, even vacuume bled it.

Also a vote to check your ubolts, mine was also pulling hard right also. Tightened them up and no more worries!

I got 10 (yes TEN) turns on mine before they held 100 ftlbs. I just got the truck, went to drive it in to the shop down my twisty street and scared the crap out of me. It darted right under braking too. I also got about that on the shackle bolts.

:eek1:

I got maybe 3 or 4 turns on a few, but man that's crazy.

It also seems that the lift and having the sway bar still connected can exaggerate the problem as well. With 4 inches on mine, you can clearly see the sway bar tugging on the spring plates. I imagine under heavy braking having the front end dive tugs on them too. I haven't taken my sway bar off so I don't have a reference, but judging from the way it looks now removing it would help.

U bolts tight, no lift kit just stock springs, man this thing wants to be sold, whats a new GM full rear quarter pannel worth??? The next step will be buy some brake gauges I guess and check the PSI.

I have no sway bar....... I almost messed myself.

If you replaced all your brake parts, Brake pressure gauge will tell you if you are getting even pressure. Alignment is good? Tires all good, same brand, pressures?

Did you say you checked the rotors too? Are there any noticeable differences in the wear pattern on the tires?

How's your brake fluid? I would assume since you've bled so much it should be sparkling new, but just in case a full flush couldn't hurt.

Well ill just throw this out there but when i got my truck the spindle nuts were less than finger tight and was makeing the truck down right scarey to drive. would dart left a little but has you got to a stop it would jerk right!
