a little back ground it is a np205 transfer case 350 tranny, manual locking hubs warn .the driver side front hub started clicking 2 days prier and took it to the mechanic said a clip went bad inside the hub and made the gears slap together. it snowed yesterday 4 inches so i put it in 4 wheel high so i could go to the super market, no problems no noise easy to go in drove it yesterday and today. went and played in the mud a little and parked it. went out and cleaned the windows and tried to take it out of 4x4 mode and you cant take it out of gear.
and i had it in neutral.any tricks that might help.

Have you tried putting it in "N", w/ the motor OFF,
and slamming it out of gear? :dunno:

My friend "had" to do that with his 205 case. :haha:

Get it rolling, kick the tranny in neutral, and try shifting while its rolling. If its driveline bind that will usually get it.
Otherwise you probably either have an internal problem, or most likely a shifter linkage problem.
Maybe a big ice ball in the linkage.

how do you slam it out of gear? I had my little brother come and try
(cant really pull on it because of my surgery in dec) and he pushed like crazy and he laughed and said sorry bro no go.

I always shifted mine rolling(like 4-5 mph) otherwise it was a real pita to shift.
