That worked for years, but for the last 5 years that tailgate has been on a shelf. If you wanted to be really cool, you could drill it for a steel insert. They're kind of crappy pot metal.

There is a roll pin that holds the handle into the crank. Double check the material around it is not cracked.The roll down crank for mine is loose. Is here a way to tighten it? I mean in the meantime before I swap the truck tailgate on the blazer
