I had some square tubing at my shop so I decided to make a tire carrier for my 72 Blazer. I took the spare off my Jeep just to see what it looked like. It's not hanging right where it should be, but tell me what yall think. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble, and my buddy says it looks to high..? Don't beat me up too bad! I just like messing around when I have the time. :) I just wanted some input from my fellow k5 buddies!

Thanks

Somebody say it........

But yeah, shorten it a bit so the tire is lower. Also consider drilling holes in the side of your hitch and welding a nut on, to make set screws to keep the thing from wiggling. With that much weight on such a long lever arm, the wiggling will eventually break something. BTDT.

Nice lookin' carrier, btw, and nice rig.

Guess I'll be the first to say something.

Doesn't seem like it would support the weight if you hit an unexpected bump. I could be wrong.

Cut the length so the top of the tire is maybe 6 inches or so above the top of the tailgate.

What are you supposed to do if you want to open your tailgate? You turned a 5 second job into a 5 minute job. Your choices would be to either unhook the carrier and attempt to carry the already awkward tire carrier or you could take the tire off and then handle the actual carrier.

Seems like a good idea if you just wanted to have a spare tire carrier and never actually plan on needing to replace a flat. Nice creativity though....:thumb:

Are you moving your license plate? Blocked plate gives po po a reason to say hi, if you know what I mean.

Like others said, drop it down a little and it will look sharp.

Now in the correct forum...and too high.

Nice truck though! :waytogo:
