Hi all,

I'm in the planning stages of getting rid of my 90 K5 with plans to replace it with a 81-87 chevy/gmc long bed. I have an ORD shackle flip (4" lift), Swaybar correct/disconnect, and raised steering arm among a few other things for the lift. Basically the full 4" lift from ORD. I also did a SYE on the NP241 (elec speedo) and new CV rear drive shaft.

The question is, what year range of truck do I need to look for if I want to transfer all the lift components off the blazer onto the truck? I don't even know if the trucks came with NP241's. I really want to keep all the upgrades from the blazer and put it back to stock. The prices that blazers go for here means I have more money in the suspension than the blazer is worth and I need to recoup as much of that as possible. Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance for the help.

The suspension proper will all move over. The driveshaft will need to be lengthened, but retubing is somewhat cheaper than a whole new shaft.

I think the electric speedos were only on '90-91, so you'll have some mixing and matching to do on the t-case side. I seem to recall that the 208 and 241 are the same size physically and might use the same crossmember, but don't quote me on it.

Note that 81-86 pickups are carb'd and only the 87 have the fuel injection like your current K5.

Thanks for the reply Dremu. The T-Case and speedo are the primary concerns I have with this swap. I may just buy a decent used Np241 to put on the blazer and swap up upgraded one into the truck and ditch the NP208.

Hopefully putting mechical speedo gears on the T-Case wont be to hard to do (finding parts). Again thanks for the help.

You'll need to find a 1989 NP241 from either a K5 or a half ton Suburban.

As mentioned above the only things you should have to address are the rear driveshaft and electric speedo. The rear driveshaft from a K5 is obviously shorter than anything on a pickup and will need lengthened. All pickups of that generation had mechanical speedos. If your SYE kit retains the factory rear speedo housing then I believe you can swap between the mechanical and electric speedo assemblies on the 241. Just keep in mind that passenger drop 241's are not that common because they were only found on '89 (mech.), and '90-'91 (elect.) Blazers and Suburbans.
