blazer tow rig

I just towed my utility trailer today with my blazer. I miss my burb. I just made a light dump run, but on the way back i picked up about 18 rail road ties(not too heavy, but not too light either, probably around 4000lbs with the trailer). When I was parking the loaded trailer, backing down the gravel driveway, I was skidding and sliding all over the place. I did not have a chance to hook up my brake controller yet though, but towing with a 8000lb burb is nice.
 
My Blazer is my tow rig (don't ever buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee and think it can tow :mad:). I tow everything from a 10' or 22' snomobile trailers, all the way up to a 25' car hauler. Pulling the Camaro to the track isn't that bad. With the 4 place snowmobile trailer behind it, a good wind will cause some sway. But I think thats more a weight distribution/trailer height issue.

The biggest complaints I hear about towing with a short wheelbase, is that the vehicle sway excesivly. If you get the proper tounge weight and the tounge at the right level with the hitch, you shouldn't have any problems.

Blazers got 4.88's in the 14B FF along with disc's out back. I've also got a shackle flip on it. I've heard towing is bad with a shackle flip, but I have had no troubles with it.
 
I tow a lot with my K5. I have a 2500 LB utilitity trailer., and a boat that weighs around the same. I haul my boat all over the West. and use my utillity trailer all the time. It holds a cord + of wood and I haul 4 to 6 cord out of the hills every year.
I tow thousands of miles every year.
K5s tow ok. But they are a half ton truck. You are limited to towing no more than 5k and that is pushing it.
But they will do it.
As said above They are a SWB truck. But if you have everything balanced out right plus trailer brakes they tow ok.
 
used to have one for a while. did pretty good. might make my current one into one soon.
