CK5's website says the 1978 Blazer weighs under 4000 dry, which is significantly less that '77 and '79+. Is this true and does anybody know why it is less? I have a 400/th350/203 combo

you could take your truck to a inspection station.... a truck stop or a place where you can buy stone..... they weigh your truck before you go in and when you come out..... then you dont have to worry about what the book says....

Stop at a set of interstate scales. Go inside and let em know what you need. They will usually be glad to help if you shoot straight with em and are polite.

EDIT: According to the stats program I have, the 77 and 79 are listed at 4422# as the curb weight.

The only listing I have for the 78 model is the Diesel version or the 2WD C10 version.

78 Diesel: 4400#
78 C10 2WD: 4040#

the discreancy in the wiehgts could be due to whomever compilled the list could have used the weight for a 6 cyl blazer or somthing.

Depends on the state. Passenger class vehicles that list weight, generally never list the curb weight. Any weight on the registration is going to be tied to GVWR (max weight allowed on the roadway for that vehicle).

The max weight corresponds to the potential wear and tear (damage) that that particular vehicle causes the roadway.
