Depends.

Is it original or restored?

Does it have low miles or high?

Is it a rust bucket that looks nice on the outside or totally rust free everywhere?

Little factors like those will determine whether you shall leave it alone or tear the **** out of it.

Take for example of a cherry ride: Craig Artzners. That would be a sin to cut, lift, modify his rig in ANY way.

well for the most part its pretty original.just been repainted.and i am redoing the carpet.
high miles but brand new engine
rust free everywhere,i am redoing the carpet floor pans have NO rust what so ever.never has had rust was a california desert car.

Well depends on the wheelin your talking about. For a truck like that I'd say stick to nice and easy, WIDE trails and you'll be all set. Avoid rocks too. Thats pretty much how I wheel mine now. I only hit the easy and WIDE trails so I can prevent scratches and you still have fun wheelin.

so basicaly find a big open field.
i had the blazer wheelin once before.when i bought the truck out in ca in the desert.

yeah basically bc you got purty paint avoid trees. haha, and dont do rocks. my trucks rust free too, and i still wheel it. but its mostly mud. some trails.

Nice k5! Where in WI are you? I'm in Prairie du Sac (Madison/Baraboo area) and have a '72, Dad's in Tomahawk and has a rust-free '75 and a cancerous '73.

hey you could you posst up a pic of your 72 its kinda hard to see the avatar.

my truck is pretty straight, all orgional (lift ect.) and no rust. but its not 70's style, those are better IMO. i would take it out on mild trails and mud no problem. you can always repair rust or paint chips. heres mine: whorin' it up

i just got it stuck to where the hood was at my waist. it was awesome. the fun i have in my truck just makes my truck more valuable to me.

Its not too nice to wheel. You can even try harder stuff. Its not orginal, Craigs truck is pretty much a survivor, while your truck is nice its got alot of aftermarket stuff on it.

If you do wheel it first thing is to get some body protection, good solid bumpers and rock sliders. Well built stuff not some cheapy chrome crap.

You can wheel and keep stuff nice, you just have to be carefull and have the guts to back down when you don't want to do something.

This is the best advice I have seen. My Blazer is rusty and is going to be getting fresh custom paint, but it will still go wheeling. The trick is learning what you are comfortable with, and what will cause you to hurt the truck. Yours is nice, but wheeling doesn't have to be about being the biggest baddest truck that takes the hardest trails. There are more than enough trails that stock trucks can take, that are fun, and won't trash the body. You just have to learn what the limitations are and not push too hard. Some obstacles are not worth destroying a truck like that. Mine is an 80 and although it isn't perfect it will be pretty when I get done.

yes you can wheel that, just like everyone else said, be carefull and dont pick the hard trails. For some mud running you'll be fine. If you want to try an orv park, go to badlands in attica IN. There are enough place where you could wheel with out trashing your ride

the only things that are not orginal are the paint(stock color) and the carpet but beside that every thing is orginal.and the new engine is not orginal either and the wheels.
sorry keep forgeting stuff
