BlazerBash '07

If anyone is worried about the rig being up-to-snuff, we had a blast last year on 33's and open 12 bolt/D44 on 3.07's! Even came back with some video that made my relatives freak!

If all goes well, I'll be coming back with a locked rear and an ORD doubler behind a 5-speed.

This is exactly what Blazer bash is about. A little intro to Moab you get to see what the vehicles can do and you have a great time.

I still think Neal (aka eeyor) is the best story to support this:

He came to Blazer Bash thinking it was like a show n' shine. He did 2 trail runs and had a blast. I think he was completely surprised by how much he was able to do in the stock blazer. And IIRC, he came away with no body damage.

Course he got bit hard by the bug and now has a built trail rig. :D

In the next year or so I'm going to try and get a tow rig so I can go to things like this. I'd LOVE to go to Moab but it's a little much of a drive for me. Even Telico would be a bit much because of the "What if I break something? How am I going to get this thing home?" syndrome. We'll see though...

I just find it funny when the "I'm afraid I might break it..." comes yet again from a guy with a built 1-ton truck... :eek1: ;)

All that does is scare the 1/2 ton K5 crowd with perfectly suitable and reliable vehicles from coming to go 'wheeling in Moab...:doah: :D

I wouldn't rely on the notion that "There's always next year..."
Seriously, there may not be. For one, an event such as Blazer Bash is very much dependent on its actual participants - just being interested doesn't count. And second, the trails may not be there forever, either.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to discourage. that's just how my luck runs, lol. Too may times I've broke something and I've heard "Well damn, I've never seen anything like that before." And this being my first one ton anything, time I go out and think something isn't going to break, it probably will. I've always had 1/2 ton stuff and me constantly having things break has inspired me to build this one right. Plus I would hate to even think of how much I'd have to spend in gas just to drive my truck down there. I just checked it on Mapquest, 1896 miles! :eek1: Oh dear God, I feel faint, lol.

I don't blame you for not wanting to spend the money on gas, it's a chore to budget for the distance I drive - about 1/4 of your distance. If you can find some way to budget it in for this year or next, I can guarantee it'll be worth it. :D

One of the coolest things about Blazer Bash is that there will be no short supply of help if you do break something. It's really cool having guys like the ORD crew riding along on the same trails to help you fix just about anything, after all they are the pros. Last year a guy had his weld on spring perch break loose on the trail. James from ORD whipped out their onboard welder and hot glued it back together. I'll bet the guy is still running that same weld job.

Besides, if you break something, half the fun is drinking beers back at camp staying up all night trying to fix everything before morning. Even if you do break something, there's tons of guys around that are pretty helpful and would give you a hand or some parts if you needed.

You can also think of it this way: If it doesn't break, you just saved yourself tons of cash on a tow rig. If it does break, you only have to tow it back 1 way instead of two! I guess you could also rent a big U-haul and drive it back that way.

I drove 1100 miles last year, each way. I admit I'm a noob though.

Sounds doable...:D See you in Moab.

Look, I'm just playing Cheerleader here, trying to promote the Bash a bit. Fact is, I'm signed up already...:p:

Hopefully I can get my Man Friday-TSGB, to ride shotgun and/or convoy with him and Knucklehead.

I'm having a hard time picturing you with pom-poms. :yikes: :haha:

I'm excited about the raffle this year! That's really good odds to win some awesome prizes.

How many k5s show up to this? Ive never been. Im in arkansas so its a long drive, like 20 hours. but maby next year ill go.

Usually around 50 rigs in varying degrees of "built".

I just promised monday to the wifey , no wheeling . probably going to be in and out of every shop and touristy spot .... worth it though :thumb:

Monday is my last night , come by and drink with me , wanna take empty coolers home this time !!

We're going to spend the week before the Bash in Western Colorado. Unfortunately we'll be making the drive home, otherwise we'd be down for some shopping on Monday.

Speaking of which, Pauly if your wife doesn't want to ride with you one of the days, let me know. She could hang out with my wife. I know she's not riding with me Friday. We're staying in Moab Thursday night.

She is definitely missing a trail ride , maybe two ..... she saw some pictures and is freaking out about riding with me LOL

Nicole and I end up having little "spats" whenever I ride with her on the trail. It's better if I just get out and take pictures! :doah: :rotfl:

I hate riding shotgun. I can handle it if Jack rides along but otherwise it is not my cup of tea.

BTW

everybody get signed up. Theres only something like 49 spots available.
