Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

However they are wrong......

Did not do the measure it three times weld it once. Had to make the passenger side shock longer and forgot to do the drivers side

ends up the drivers side 3/4 of an inch lower then the passenger side so.................

not sure what I am going to do.

So I decided that I am not going to worry about the hoop difference for now. It is 3/4 of an inch and only means the passenger side will have that much more potential up travel and that much less down travel.

Been doing a little bit of work on the the fender bolts got the front two done going to do the back two on the front fenders tomorrow. Going to be nice to not have the fenders flopping around in the wind.

So full story fell into some stock Dodge steel 17's and some stock Dodge aluminum 17's.

So question is do I get bead locks made for the aluminum ones or just go with the steel ones ?

Steel cheaper and easier to get done, but heavier

Aluminum more money and need to find someone to weld it and not sure of the back spacing but tons lighter.

So what say you ??

Are the the 5 spoke aluminum wheels? Those would look bitchin with bead locks on them.

If you go steel I'll take the aluminum ones, if they're the ones I'm thinking of.

So took the set of Toyota rims that I got with the Dodge ones to the scrap yard made $80 :woot:

Gave my kids $5 each for helping pull the stainless covers off the Dodge rims, and cleaning off the stuff that sticks it on.

Went to a tire store that has a machine big enough to fit a 40. Paid $10 to have one of the tires pulled of the rim and put one on the Dodge steely that I have.

Put it on the truck. Fits but not going to work.

Backspacing it too much 6.5 vs. 4.5 that is on there now. Tires hit the spring while fully turning. So paid another $10 to have the tire put back on the old rim. :doah:

So back to the drawing board for rims.

Found a set of H2's with 315/70/r17 with more then half tread left. So going to look at them on Saturday. If the tires are nice going to buy them.

Plan is to run them on the F350 until after EJS then switch them over to the 40's and put them on Twinkie and put Twinkie rims on the F350.

Going to run them on "Hostess", the name of my F350, the kids named it because it tows Twinkie. After EJS going to pull the rims and tires and switch the rims to Twinkie.

What year is your ford? Super duties use a metric lug pattern instead of the old 8x6.5"
