Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

tow Rig

Im glad you went with hummer wheels and not the dodge wheels ! We need some pics of it all rollen new rubber ! I agree no caps and them 7.3 sound bad ass without a muffler and a down pipe .

So did some work on the burb today

Got the wheels on it that are going to stay, they are even chrome, so it should go faster now

Ended up getting the engine cross bar built worked out rather well. Have to buy bigger bolts and paint it and it will be done.

Ordered some limiting straps got them, but they are going to be too short. Have no place to attach them on the axle. So I guess I will have to wait until I link the front end.

Got the bar painted and in.

Got all the tires on took it for a ride

Ran like crap  had a miss and was just running real rough.

So..... checked the timing it was off fixed that. Decided to do the plugs haven't done them since I have owned it. :doah:

One broke in half when I put the socket on it, # 4, got # 7 out the electrode was bent so bad it was touching, so no gap at all.

So got he plugs in amazing how much better it runs on all 8 cylinders. :woot:

And got it packed for Moab.

now throw those jeep decals on the fenders and your good to go :waytogo:

So broke the truck at EJS, so..... have some fixing to do

It was the stuff I did when I narrowed the front end. Knew it would not last just figured it would be longer then it did. Guess I should know better and do it right the first time.

Have to pull the radiator, grill and fenders and then put in a piece of square tube.

May even pull out the front frame cross member and put in a non riveted one.

Ran rather well other then that.

The MPFI is so going in very fast stalled one to many times as in like 20

Going to do the narrow and shorten thing, banged the rear body a bit too much.

Also going to make some more leaf spring clamps, tired of sledge hamming my leaf pack, back straight at the end of the day.

You can't leave us hanging like that, we need details!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with her, time to chop/bob the ass end? Maybe that and narrow the whole cab?

To many off camber spots with the edge a little to close for my liking.

Up hill was OK down hill was a bit touchy.

The black in the picture is from tires and that is where you follow.

some other pictures too of the z turn you can see the river in the back ground.

maybe it was because we were in a bit of a rush because of the 50 or so Jeeps behind us.

Rolling over is one thing and rolling over when you have a _ _ _ foot fall is a bit different

I know a few Moab regulars that have the "done it once don't need to again" opinion on that trail. I'm not brave enough to try it.

So................

Thats all I got

Well not really have alot just need to put it in writing

Want to narrow the rear, ton of work to narrow it and then weld it back together to keep the integrity. Tube and skins would be easier

Want boat sides

Want my door cuz I think they are cool

Going to price DOM tomorrow, why fight it......... :woot:

Any thoughts on how many sticks ? Full family cage with skin sides.

Thanks T

So did a bit of work on Twinkie this afternoon.

The front is a bit more cracked then I thought cracked the upper radiator mount also.

I am going to tie the down bars into the door frames/ pillars to keep them from moving to much right now.

Have to figure out what to do about my oil cooler too. May have to do a bit of changing and go to an after market one instead of the factory one that I have on it now. Have one so no big deal. The lines are really short and did not want to fit when I did the radiator mod last year.

Going to cage, bob and dove tail the back in the next few weeks. Figure I can keep the door section pretty much all together and get the MPFI in and the back done and be ok this year.

Have to redo the hood and front end also. The hood was a mess of horrendous welding by the owner. The front fenders had a slight upwards tilt so never really liked that.

The one thing I really liked was that I kept the stock latch and the hood would open all the way to the roof. Not sure if I can keep either of those still.

The brackets that I made to hold the head light buckets need to be redone also so going to be a busy few weeks.

Have to remember to fix the broke stuff then start on the fun stuff aka the back.
