Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

So got bored again did some work on the seat mount.

Front seats have always leaned to far back for my taste so I fixed the drivers side tonight.

Like it alot better may do the passengers this week.

I'd redo the return line. Then if pump fails you know it's the pump and not the return size.

In order to do the pump I have to plumb in a bigger return into the side, top or something in he tank. Not looking forward to that.

Where is your pump mounted? If it's not below the tank I would try that for sure. Return line size can be an issue but I'm not sure what it would cause.

In theory if the return is too small you will just have more pressure in the return line to get the fuel to go back to the tank.

What sort of regulator do you have and where is it mounted, Just thought, check for a clogged fuel filter. Might have too much restriction because of the that and making the pump work hard.

Regulator is in the fuel rail.

Pump is below the tank

Filters are both brand new, but I will check on the 100 micron one. Maybe just replace it it wasn't all that much.

Think I will get another pump to keep as a spare. Not much chance of Moab Oreilly's having one in stock

I thought about running a temp return line to a fuel can or something to see it it made a difference in the sound from the pump. :dunno:

Sounds like you have it all correct. You could try a temp return line to see, Remember that the 10 micron (I'm assuming that) between the pump and the rail can create too much back pressure and cause a noisy pump. I have a fuel tank in the bed of my truck and there is a change in sound of the pump when the filters are clogged, which is what made me think of the clogged filter in the first place.

Went to a car show tonight. The Burger Stop in Layton had a car show and a bunch of guys from the area 4x4 club had a joint show across the street. They had a RTI ramp so I ran up it.

There were two, maxed the little one and got 2nd highest on the bigger on.

Bunch of people taking pictures and stuff just not me, I was driving.

Did have a bit of an issue my t-case shifters are giving me a bit of an issue so going to take a look at it tomorrow. Gives me something fun to do on my day off anyway.

You have a cool unique truck, they'd be crazy if they weren't impressed.

So did some work on the Twink today

took out the arm that the shifter bolts to. Found three loose adapter bolts to the trans, none holding the bracket in though.

the bracket was cracked on the front and the back

So did a bit of welding and added some plate. Made it basically twice a thick as it was. Works great.

Also found that the body has shifted a bit. Which I am totally in shock over . I has been rubbing on the shifter could also explain why it has been a pain to shift.

Installed some LED lights in the back of the two Auto Meter gauges works rather well.

Got some new front lights. Also did a bit of tuning not sure if that was good or bad.

Decided too that I need to get some new rock lights, ones I have draw to many amps

I like the LED route with those guages, i have a few myself that needs a little help.

Oh and the body looks straight to me :waytogo:

So been having a bit of issues locking my rt front hub,

figured out why today

axle is worn where the clip should be it did fit back on not sure how well it is going to hold.

oh well good excuse for some 35 spline chromo's

So lessons learned from BB15

I really, really, really, did I say really, need a front locker.

I need to buckle down and make a mount for my high lift jack. Would have helped a bit when I got a flat tire.

Which leads me to my other need, bead locks. Coming up Hells Gate pushed the bead in on the tire let a bit as in most of the air out so had to jack up and re-inflate.

last but not least, need new front spring bushings.

side98.jpg

Not sure what happened to the bushing, got old and sucked in. They are about 7 years old so happy they have made it this far. The front end is a HP60 from a 78 F350. So spring width is the same. I have some big washers in it on both sides of the bushing, seems like they went in also.

Have an extra set in another set of leaves that I have so I took those out tonight and will put them in next week.

Figure I will pull the front springs and redo the pack a bit and put a set of shorter shackles on it. Would like to get the font end about an inch higher anyway.

MPFI worked great. Fuel pump scares me, cuz it is loud.

Russell helped a bit with a few minutes of tuning which really helped it run a lot smoother.

Only issue that I had with it, was when it got hot, as in the truck, it was pumping hot fuel back to the tank in the return line. My vent was a lot to small so it was pressurizing the tank. Which in turn started leaking fuel out the vent. So ended up putting a PCV valve on the end. To basically make a one way vent of sorts. Then got a vent filter of sorts from Oreilly's and put it on the end of the valve.

Works great, breaths fine no more issues.

Was cool to go down hill and not have any issues with stalling.

So another issue I forgot to tell you about, my hood release broke. Got some help at the BBQ and did some prying and got it to release. Checked the oil and tightened the lock a bit and it worked great, for two days.
:doah:
So needed to fix that also
