Blazer's Tow rigs

Did you tow Twinkie to Oregon? If so, 7.5 is fairly decent for a big block towing at 70mph.

That speed will definitely kill the fuel economy.

Agreed. If you keep it closer to 70-75, It'll help quite a bit. My old 96 truck with the L29 would do ~12mpg's empty. But if I was around 80 mph+ it would start dropping quite a bit

Especially towing a trailer. Any truck I drive does around 2mpg better at 70 than 80, and when towing a trailer slow is good.

So getting around to the tune up.

First Pain in the butt.
Second EGR tube bigger pain in the butt.
Third may have found the issue

Plugs look good. Cap looks good, rotor looks good 7 of the wires look good. One not so good.
Think that is my issue.

Getting new, cap, rotor, plugs.
Now just have to rebuild or make or ??? a new EGR tube, well splice old one together.

also putting on those fiberglass heat shields, getting rid of the metal ones. Funny the bad wire did not have one.........

My brother just removed the EGR tube and made simple block off's on the intake and exhaust. He had an "SES" light for a while for the EGR, but then he got a tune on the ECM from Team 208 Motorsports where he removed EGR from the tune and it's all good now. Those stupid EGR tubes on those L29's are a pain in the freaking butt. Just remove it (if you can for emissions sake)

I have to pass emissions, so unless I get a tune has to stay.

Yeah, that sucks. When I owned the truck I referenced above, and living in CO (where I had emissions too) when I replaced the injectors/fuel pressure regulator, I ended up destroying that EGR tube. And I had to keep it to stay emissions legal. Ended up having to go to a dealer and special order it and got raped on the price. I was freaking pissed off about it. Hopefully you can find a cheaper source then I was able to

My mechanic in Sandy will delete the EGR for you with a tune. It costs $125 to register that the ECU has been modified plus a little bit for fiddling with it. I had him do that when I did the axle swap on the Yukon, had him reprogram the speedo and transmission and delete most of the emissions controls. Totally worth it.

So ended up doing a bit of more work on this thing.

Wanted the A/C to work so got a rear A/C plug kit. One of the plugs worked the smaller one did not. So welded the end shut, yeah did not work for long, but it worked. So bought a new hose that did not have the rear a/c line in it. Put in the line, after taking the grill off and looking at the POS headlights I had decided to go back to the OG ones.

So with the new A/C line I charged the system and.... blows hot air.... So yeah not a clue why it doesn't work. I hate not having access to a shop.

yeah I think I may have found my issue. I bled a bunch of air out of the system and it started to blow cool. So it would seem that I need to evac it. I do not have a set of A/C gauges and the Oreilly's up the road did not have any to rent so I hoped it work anyway guess I was wrong.
