Blend door repair

Here's how I fix the plastic retainer for my blend door. Cut two 1/16" metal 90 degree angle pieces and grind one end to the shape of the plastic part, one for the top & one for the bottom and drill a hole to match where the nail pin went. the other end gets a 3/16" hole to attach them to the door,, I also notched the angle around the rubber door seal, I used a 3/16" by 1/8" reach aluminum rivets. Glued the old plastic retainer back together to use as a spacer and sandwitched it between the angle pieces and used a cotter pin in the small hole to hold them together. Marked and drilled the 3/16" holes in the blend door and riveted them on. Solid as Sears and will never break again!!! I can email a picture of what it looks like if you [email protected]

Are you talking about for the defrost and such under the dash? What year truck? Anyway we can have you post pics on the site here?
