Well, I drove to Nashville today to pick up the crew cab that I bought for my '75 Suburban. On the way back everything was fine until I started seeing smoke in my rearview mirror. As soon as I hit the shoulder it let go, fluid went everywhere.(see crappy cell phone picture) I think it blew the front seal 'cause that's where the fluid would come from when I started it. It let go at 2:00pm 120 miles from home and we just got home at 11:30 :(:doah:
My question to y'all is if I swapped in an sm465 and a 205 in place of the 700r4 and the 241 what all has to be changed? Different crossmember? driveshafts? what about the speed sensor, isn't there a fix for that?

um its really not a very complicated all you really have to do it switch the hump or cut holes for the sticks. yes it is a different cross member and it is a different driveshaft because the unit is much shorter than a 700r4 241 combo. as for the speedo gear mine screwed right back on to the 205. oh ya and you need to get the pedal assembly for a clutch which i found not to be very complicated

I've got access to the 465/205, hyd. mc, slave, and bellhousing and pedals. He doesn't have the crossmember or shafts. How much shorter is that combo than the 700/241? Does anything need to be done for the computer?

om the front shaft is going to be alot shorter and depending on wheter the 205 is a slip or fixed yoke your shaft will need to be quite a bit longet i had to add i think 9 or so inches to my shaft when i did this to my blazer and had to shorten my front about 4 or 5 and nothing has to be done to the computer that i know of since the 205 and 465 dont need any electrical connections to run
