Block to bellhousing dowel removal

I'm going to run the dial indicator tomorrow, I suspect the block to bellhousing alignment is off and may need to install offset bushings.
Q: how do the heck to I remove the old dowels from the block?

warm the block up a bit with a small propane torch. Try not to heat the pin.
