when i bought my 85' pickup the previous owner gave me an engine that did not come out of it at the time i didn't ask what it was becuase i was planning on gettin a tbi 350. but before i could buy it someone else got to it. so heres the questions. what physical differences are there between teh 350 and 305 and what are there block numbers??
any info is much appreciated

you post us the #s and then we can go from there easyer. and both use the same stroke crank but smaller bore on 305.

does anyone know the block numbers for a 305?? i found a 350 in a junkyard and wrote down the block numbers and they read 3970010. from what ive read that is a 350. it was in a pickup but the cab was completely off.

awesome thanks alot for all the info and link helped big time. now all i gotta do is go look at my engine and see what she says. hopefully its the number i tagged from the junkyard. the truck look to be a mid 80s from how the bed sides were.
thanks again

No problem on the links. That site has a lot of good info, including casting numbers for heads and crankshafts.
