Blocks, "They're how to ruin a wheeling trip"

well except my STOCK superduty

ever seen a dodge with stock blocks? They axle wrap like a crazy. Seen super duties axle wrap good too but the strong springs help to stop it I think.

Guy I bought my truck from had 4" blocks in the back and the spring perches were rounded out to match the axle once I got it. A couple hrs of cutting and welding and new perches were installed, along with skyjacker 6" springs. This was before I knew about shackle flips. Rides real nice in the rear... now I just gotta take care of the front end.

Most lift manufacturers recommend losing the stock blocks and going with just springs.

Ever see a stock chevy with no block Axle wrap Like crazy. I have Many times :eek1: . the old Dodge 1/2tons would axle wrap like crazy mostly because of the garbage springs they used (the 2x4's Do it also with no blocks) I've never had axlewrap/wheelhop in my superduty. But my boss's truck does it bad in the sand but only in reverse (stacked blocks :eek1: )Axle wrap is there Blocks just amplify it . Lift springs don't cure it either my 8" skyjacker rears in my brown k20 Axlehop like A M.F. In reverse. My old blazer with a shackle flip and stock springs (no blocks) did it to in both directions . My point(again) is that shorter blocks won't kill you Like I said before there not Ideal but then again most of the stock stuff on these trucks isn't either.

worst axle wrap I've seen in a stock vehicle was a dodge 3500 dually. You could watch the axle walk back and forth a couple of inches when he jumped on it. eh I just don't think blocks are good in any situation. Me if i had blocks in a stock vehicle, I'd get rid of them. Manufacturers aren't building their vehicles intending them for the abuse me put them through. Think I'm lying? Take your truck off road, spit a block out on a rocky trail, tell them where you did it and see what they say about a warranty.

I agree that this case was probably improper torqueing, but it only spit after hours of wheeling HARD and in a tight rocky section of trail.

That's alot of tire to try and spin and a whole A$$ load of tourque . but average joe with he's/her's stock 305-700r-4 3.08 geared Blazer isn't gonna tear up much with his 3.5 inblocks trying to turn 33' at's . of course when he/she catches the "sickness" we have ( you know like not buying new clothes cuz you could spend the money on your Rig) then Shackle flips and 52" spring swaps and fender cutting and 1-tons and 5.13's and the list goes on. then they may want to pass that $299.00 4" lift (with blocks on down to the next guy with a Nice clean Stock K-5, and pass the sickness to them

OH not buying new clothes because you "need" to buy a lift:doah:

It funny because its true, I"M eating KD and left overs from easter in hopes of affording a lift:doah:

I've felt a wicked case of axle wrap on a rented astro van. for some reason 3 grand neutral drops and monoleaf springs don't react well together. Even with a 4.3 putting the power down. Dang thing wrapped so hard the tires left black marks on the front edge of the rear wheel openings where it rubbed. It was funny as hell with 6 co-workers on board. Waaaaa.....BANG!

And yet another reason NOT to buy used rental cars....

Sorry for the hijack..
